Former Trustee Witnesses Opening & Closing of A.B. Daley Building

Written by Charlee Mappin, Principal of A.B. Daley Community School
This photo encompasses one of my greatest career highlights. This picture is from our final assembly in the current A.B. Daley Community School building. The woman pictured with me is Bridget Jones, who is 101 years-old.
Mrs. Jones was a school trustee at the time our school was built. In fact, you can see her picture in one of our photo albums from the opening day of A.B. Daley Community School in 1982. Mrs. Jones did countless hours of research, shared phone calls, and visited other schools across the province to get ideas for the best design for this school. She cared so much about the future success of the students at A.B. Daley.
She is yet another example of what has made this building so special. She helped make this building so amazing for generations of students. And we are so thankful that she took the time to ensure that our students and staff had the best learning environment possible. She was at the school for its opening day and she was there for its closing day. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren got to attend the school she helped create. Two hundred students and staff and a room full of former students got to thank her and give her an ovation. She gave us such a gift, so we gave back what we could to her.
