Shelby Hewton

I am beyond excited to be joining the A.B. Daley school community as a part of the grade 5/6 team! I was born and raised in Calgary, but spent most of my childhood outside of the city helping my mom with our menagerie of farm animals. I graduated from Mount Royal University in 2016. Before graduating, I spent 9 years in the family services field working with the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary and other non-profits. My work supporting families in various roles has shaped me as a teacher as I see us all as partners in learning. Most recently, I taught Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 5 in Calgary. 

My husband and I welcomed our first child, Emmett in 2020. We moved to Nanton in 2021 to be closer to family and to raise our own family in a smaller community. We have absolutely loved our time here and plan on staying! 

In my spare time, I often find myself fixing up our “Hewton Homestead”, gardening, crafting, thrifting, canoeing, camping, and cuddling our small zoo of animals.
