May 1/20- Principals' Update
Hello A.B. Daley Families,
It appears that Spring may actually be here! It is nice to see some sun peeking out and hear that families are able to spend more time outside riding bikes and exploring!
This week was a busy one, with some of our classrooms exploring Google Meets to connect with students and beginning to plan for the upcoming 2020-21 School Year. Our administration team has been working on our budget for next year and different options for grades and classes, which is always an exciting and busy time for us. We are hoping to have more updates for you in the coming weeks. Below are a few updates for parents:
Kindergarten Registration and Screening
Kindergarten registration is still open! You can print registration forms from the Livingstone Range Website or call the school for more information.
The EYE-DA (kindergarten screening) and Ages and Stages (preschool screening) event for May 13th has been cancelled. Instead, we will be sending families an online survey to complete. More information to come.
Grade 6 Orientation
Typically this time of year is when we invite Grade 6 students for orientation with parents with the staff of JT Foster. We will not be able to run this orientation in the same way as in years past, but Mr. Doucet (Principal, JT Foster) and Mrs. Becker are exploring some other options for this year's event. We will communicate a plan out to grade six families once we confirm what this year's orientation will entail.
Bee My Honey Contest! Drumroll, please...
Our Queen Bee's official name is Queen Annie "Bee" Daley! Congrats to Brinley and Blake for coming up with such a creative name. Thank you for all of your submissions, some of the runners up were Queen Alberta Rose and Queen Wildflower! Next week we will have more updates on how Queen Annie "Bee" Daley is doing!
Are you a student who wants an extra challenge this week?! (A totally optional challenge!) Write a story using the prompt “If I were a bee I would...” and email your creative stories back to Mrs. Martin at martina@lrsd.ab.ca. We can't wait to read them!
Stay Tuned... Owl's Nest News
We are hard at work on an exciting project for our students, with special guest appearances from our teachers. Just a little way for us to say hello and connect in a fun way. Stay tuned for Owl's Nest News to drop their first episode next week!
Ask a Counsellor...
Family School Liaison Counsellors are here to answer your questions about mental health and wellness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please click on the Ask A Counsellor to find more information about how to connect with a counsellor in our school division.
Please reach out to us at beckerj@lrsd.ab.ca or by phone (403-646-3161) if you need support with your learning plans. We also have funds available to support families with grocery items, so please email or call if we can help.
Take care everyone, We miss you!
