Important Information about Restrictions and Goal-Setting Conferences
Dear Parents and Guardians of A.B. Daley School,
Please note these important changes to our planned Goal-Setting Conferences on September 16 & 17. Due to the State of Public Health Emergency, we will not be having face-to-face conferences for Goal Setting. Instead, teachers will reach out to you via phone call or Google Meet to connect with you and your child about their goals for the year during your already scheduled meeting time. If you wish to use a Google Meet, please remember to download the app on your mobile device. We appreciate your patience as we take measures to keep everyone at A.B. Daley safe and healthy. If you need to re-book, please either do so through the online booking form, or contact your child’s teacher.
The following restrictions in schools will take effect immediately across the province. Please note, that direct guidance has not been received from Alberta Education yet, so these restrictions may be changed or modified as we learn more.
Masking
Masking will be mandatory for students in grades 4-12 and staff and teachers in all grades. All school staff must mask indoors unless situated at their work station. We are awaiting further information on masking and how it will be used in the classroom. We also recommend that all grade 3 students in the grade 3/4 combined classes also wear masks.
Cohorting
All elementary schools (Kindergarten to Grade 6) will implement class cohorting. Cohorting at A.B. Daley will be done in grade groups. This means that our cohorts will consist of an Early Learning/K/1/2 cohort, a 3/4 cohort, and a 5/6 cohort. We will continue to go outside at the same time, but will limit students of the same grade cohort to a designated area of play each day.
Physical activity in schools:
Youth aged 18 and under are not required to mask or maintain two-metre physical distancing during a physical activity such as physical education.
We will continue to practice good hand hygiene as we move in and out of our classrooms.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this together,
- Charlee Mappin and Alli Martin, Admin Team
