AB Daley Weekly Update- November 6, 2020
November 6, 2020
Dear A.B. Daley Families,
On Tuesday, November 10th, each A.B. Daley student will be given a poppy sticker to wear during our virtual Remembrance Day service. These poppy stickers were donated by the Royal Canadian Legion as a part of their Poppy Campaign. This campaign is one of the legion’s most important programs. The money raised from donations provides direct assistance to veterans in financial distress as well as funding medical equipment and research, home services, long-term care facilities and many other purposes. This year, because of Covid 19 restrictions, legions are not able to distribute as many poppy pots or have as many volunteers out in communities collecting donations. If you are able to send a small donation for your child’s poppy sticker on November 10th, it would be greatly appreciated. All of the money collected will be donated to the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Campaign.
Parent/Teacher/Student conferences for grades 1-6 will be held on the evening of November 26 and during the day on November 27 (no school for students). This round of conferences will be virtual or by phone with your child’s teacher. Registration for these conferences will open on November 16 and we will send a reminder and link out to all of our families. Families will be able to express their preference for either a Google Meet meeting or a phone interview. This will be a great opportunity for you to connect with your child’s teacher about their learning goals and progress this term. Report cards will go home with students on Tuesday, November 24.
You will also notice that our Safety Patrol team is out at the bus crosswalk before and after school each day to keep everyone safe. We are so proud of our grade 5 and 6 students for taking on this leadership role in our school. Thank you to Ms. Garbutt, Mrs. MacPherson and Mrs. Todd for training and leading this group of dedicated students.
