A.B. Daley Weekly Update - Nov. 20, 2020
November 20, 2020
Dear A.B. Daley Families,
Another great week in the books! Our grade six students were able to meet with our Minister of Finance and Education in a virtual question and answer period, which is linked to their Social Studies curriculum and exploration of provincial government. Thank you to Davina Comstock and Jr. Achievement for connecting Mr. MacDonald’s class with this learning experience.
Our grade one and two students are learning about their community, and took a walking tour to some local landmarks- The Hive and the Fire Department. Everyone learned a lot, thank you to our community members for supporting our learning and helping us to create safe learning opportunities for our students this year!
We would like to also congratulate our winners of last year’s Legion Poster and Poem Contest. Mairi S. and Michael T. were awarded prizes for their exemplary projects. Congratulations goes out to both of them!
Today we held our first Virtual Assembly. Please visit the A.B. Daley website to view. This month’s assembly was hosted by Mr. MacDonald’s Grade Six class. They did an excellent job of sharing information on this month’s Virtue: Perseverance, and reviewing some of our school expectations. Excellent work 6M!
Virtual Conferences for Grades 1-6
Report Cards will be going home on Tuesday, November, 24. Conferences will be held virtually using Google Meet during the evening of Thursday, November 26 and during the day on Friday, November 27. There will be no school for students on November 27.
To book online, please visit the A.B. Daley Website, https://www.abdaleyschool.ca/bookings and select the times that work best for your family. Your child’s homeroom teacher will send you your virtual meeting code the week of November 23. If you would prefer a phone interview, please communicate this with the classroom teacher and provide them with the preferred phone number where they can reach you. They will call you at your scheduled time.
**PLEASE NOTE: It was brought to our attention that when booking for Thursday, the PM times show up as AM times. We are unable to fix the glitch without cancelling everyone’s booked times. Please plan for evening conferences despite it showing up as an AM time slot - 6am Conferences are too early for us!
A few important dates to note:
- November 24- Report Cards go home
- November 26- Evening Conferences
- November 27- Conferences- No School for Students
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at the school, 403-646-3161 or s-abdaley@lrsd.ab.ca .
